Major Playoffs, Larger Payoffs at Xbox Madden 10

If learning about all the new stuff still hasn't made you excited about Xbox Madden 10, then maybe a visit to video gaming's not-so-distant past can put things into perspective. On one hand, it's probably not too cool to say Xbox Madden 10 is great, just because it stands out next to crap from 30 years ago. But it helps to see how much progress has been made in football video games, by taking a glance at the earliest video games and comparing them to Xbox Madden 10. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. The bad news, though, was that video game technology was still in the "post-Pong" phase, and the games reflected those limitations. If you've ever seen old ads for this one, the creators truly believed that it had "all the excitement" of the real deal. They didn't even try to make those guys look like people. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. An early symptom of the low-tech nature of older video games was graphics that just blinked like crazy, rendering the action impossible to read. Sound effects didn't fare much better, with the "spectators" sounding more like a car with a busted muffler. As you'd probably guessed, there wasn't a scrolling screen for this one. Soon, the first round of the console wars would begin, and the competition created a football video game of their own. They definitely took the ball and ran with this one, giving gamers better gameplay, visuals, and sound. A step in the right direction, but work needed to be done still.

Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. It would take a few more years before anything like that took place. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. If you were to ask a gamer from the 90s what their favorite sports video game was, this one would crack the top 5 list. It's relatively simple to see why it was such a mega-popular hit - before this, nobody really attempted to make a football video game that was this sophisticated. With the improvements in both the sound and the graphics, gamers saw this as the first and last word in video football games. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. However, it doesn't even come close to what Xbox Madden 10 offers. With the great strides in gaming, football video games have reached a level worthy of the fans. So, yeah, no point in calling out the old football games. We think you understand. They may have been flawed, but we needed those older games as a "springboard" to what we have today. Of course, Xbox Madden 10 has really kicked this one over the goal posts, which has the video game world pretty pleased. The fans aren't the only ones raving about Xbox Madden 10 - the critics have said their piece, and they're into it. Xbox Madden 10 reviews tend to feature statements such as "realistic and enjoyable." EA Sports didn't even come close to fumbling the ball with Xbox Madden 10, that's for sure. Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. As great as Xbox sports video games offerings are, Xbox Madden 10 is at the top of the pack. Most of the gaming world agrees that this is the new standard by which the rest shall be judged. More than just a great game, it's a chance to display your video game excellence, when you clash for cash. It's a great time to be an Xbox Madden 10 expert - now you can slug it out for some real money. When you've conquered the Xbox Madden 10 playing field, you'll be conquering your rivals - and snagging their cash.
